Check out our first feature on the blog! The one and only Zumba With Buks. I attended a free Zumba session with her earlier this year and i must say, it was the best Zumba class session i have ever done. She made me feel comfortable considering i do not consider myself a dancer lol.
Tell us about yourself
Hi! My name is Bukky and I’m a fitness fanatic. Or at least, I like to think I am :P! My work schedule is crazy so it sometimes make it difficult to work out. I try to fit in at least 3 workouts a week. Group classes help because they motivate me to get off the couch and go to the gym. I like variety in workouts because I get bored with doing the same thing over and over. Variation also helps in working different muscle groups. My three favorite ways to workout are by dancing, running and doing yoga! Of course, my favorite is dancing!
How did you get into Zumba?
I started doing zumba after attending an awesome class at LA Fitness with instructor Francina Segbefia about 2 years ago. It was so much fun and it did not feel like a workout so I continued to go. I later found out that training was available to become an instructor, I immediately jumped on the opportunity.
What motivates you?
I am motivated by this beautiful life that God has created. It is the greatest artwork ever! Our bodies are part of that artwork. To me, the most important things in life are to Love God, Love your family and friends, love your neighbor, love your enemies, and love yourself! Do the things you are passionate about! I teach zumba because it allows me to do something i’m passionate about, to keep my body healthy and to help others stay in shape and have fun while doing it! :)!
What is your nutrition like?
Staying in Shape inside and out is essential. I try to eat healthy every day. This includes incorporating fruits and/or vegetables to almost every meal and drinking a lot of water. I try to eat heavier earlier in the day and lighter at night. I refrain from eating too late. I do treat myself once in a while. I try not to overindulge. I don’t need to eat desert every day!
How often do you workout?
I workout at least 3 days a week.
