Working out can be hard to schedule with busy schedules. Some days I plan to workout every day and then life hits me with so many responsibilities. Work schedule, family responsibilities, Doctor appointments, house chores, grocery shopping, cooking, visits to make and so much more. On days like these, I really have to talk myself into the benefit of he33althy living in order to stick to my gym schedule.
What are some ways you can fit gym time into busy schedules? It’s important to remember that we need to be healthy first before we can Excel in other areas. If we do not take care of our bodies, who will?
How to fit gym around your busy life
Commercial time
While watching tv, commercials come on. Rather than sit and wait for your show to start back on, why not do a few workouts during commercials. You will honestly be surprised how many workouts you can fit in.
Wake up earlier
This works especially if you are a parent. Try waking up about 30minutes before they wake up so you can get some exercise in. I know, i know, its hard to wake up earlier. I actually still struggle with this. Waking up earlier is not fun for most people unless you are one of the lucky morning people lol. This also helps to ensure you get it out of the way before the hustle and bustle of life sets in. I love the feeling of having worked out and do not have to think about it until the next morning.
Be active
Find simple ways to add some movement into your day. Sometimes, it’s difficult to fit an actual workout into your schedule. You just need to be a little more creative. For instance, make chores a bit more active and involving. You will be shocked how many calories you burn from chores alone. You could also park a little further when you go out especially places like work or grocery shopping. Take the stairs rather than the elevator or escalator. These simple changes will burn some extra calories!
Lunch break
During lunch, try a walking lunch break rather than sitting down. Or eat for a few minutes and walk around for the rest. You could even hit the gym or go for a quick run depending on how long of a break you have. Maybe even do some simple workouts in your office. If you typically buy lunch, you could walk rather than drive to get your food.
Weekend
Use your weekend to make up for lost time. Yes, you will probably still be busy, but chances are you can find a few minutes here and there to workout.
Involve your family
If you cannot get time away from your kids, you can involve them! Maybe head to the park where they could have some fun while you also get your workout in. If you still use a stroller, you could put your baby in it and head out for a quick run or workout with the stroller.
HIIT
This is such a great way to workout intensely in a short time period. High-intensity interval training provides an effective workout for great calorie burn. You simply choose an activity to do for about 20 seconds with high intensity, then you could rest for about 30 seconds then repeat. Do several rounds of different workouts for about 10 minutes and you are good to go. Check out my quick and easy 5 minutes morning workout. Plus your body keeps working for several hours.

Commute workout
If you live close to work (lucky you), why not ride your bike to work or run to work. Also, if you usually take the subway or bus, why not get off a few stops earlier or park your car further to give yourself more walking time.
Date workout
Haha, i know you probably like what???? But why not? If you have to hang out with friends, why not make it a fitness hangout? Instead of going to pack on more calories, you could burn fat together. Or if its a date with the opposite sex, i think it will be great to see how much value they place on fitness. Kill two birds with one stone right?
Make it a priority
This is the most important. If you do not think it a priority then all of the above would not be possible. We all make time for what is important to us, so why not make your fitness important. It would not happen if it’s not your priority, rather you will continue to give excuses.
