Since becoming a mother, i have been so fascinated with how moms are able to rock at this life and combine it with their jobs and businesses. I knew i had to learn some lessons from successful mom entrepreneurs. Not to talk of those with more than one child. As a Fitness and Motherhood blogger and Pharmacist, i often find it so challenging balancing out my mom life from work and business life. My daughter goes to daycare during the week but even with that, i still find it a challenge to switch off mom mode. Is it just me that feels this way? As women, we wear so many hats.
No offense but when i hear the statement “its tough to be a man” i can’t help but laugh and ask if they can walk a mile in a woman’s shoes. From working full time to blogging to caring for our daughter, being a wife, cooking, the list goes on and on. I decided to reach out to some women in my blog groups that are rocking at being mompreneurs. 3 questions were asked and they responded. It is so amazing to learn from other like-minded women.
These were the 3 questions asked:
Lessons from Successful Mom entrepreneurs

1) What advice will you give to mothers who want to have a business but are waiting for the perfect time?
There never is a perfect time! I created and launched my blog within a month a few weeks after I had my son. I was up at night cluster feeding and working on my passion because it was fueling me. As moms, we do so much for everyone else and if you want to have your own business (for whatever reasons) you need to act on it! If you wait for the right time, it will NEVER come because our kids will always need something from us. Pick a day that you’d like to get started and GO FOR IT!
2) How does being a mom affect your entrepreneur journey?
Being a mom has taught me how to get a ton of things done and that transfers over nicely into entrepreneurship. When you have your own business you have a lot of balls in the air, same as in motherhood so it’s important to figure out how to balance it all. My goal is to be a present mom and to do that I have to know when to be a mom and when to be an entrepreneur.
It can be tough since I love running my blog and business so sometimes it can be hard for me to turn off my ‘entrepreneur hat’ and put my ‘mom hat’ back on. I have to learn to give myself grace and know that I can get things done but my timing might be different than someone else because of all I take care of. I get up early and stay up late to hit my goals and know I’ll get there with hard work!
3) What is an adorable mom moment you have had so far?
I have little kiddos and one of my favorite moments happened just a few months ago, days after I brought my son home. My daughter who is 2 years old, saw me nursing him and got a little airline pillow and her doll to make sure she feeds her baby too! She is the best big sister ever and loves her brother so much (now if I can just trust her to stop picking him up when I go to the bathroom!)

Short Bio: Cara is a wife, mom to an 11-year-old stepson, 2-year-old daughter, 4-month-old boy, and a woman of God. Growing up, she struggled to believe in herself and her own self-worth and lived most of her life trying to please others with no real focus. She dove into her career as a teacher, where she worked with students with disabilities for 8 years before realizing that God was calling her for a purpose that allowed her to help others while taking care of herself.
After years of struggling with depression, anxiety, and burn out, she decided to leave teaching so she could work to mentor women and stay home with her family.
Cara got into entrepreneurship via network marketing which allowed her to not only start to prioritize herself, combat her anxiety but start to develop this passion for being a virtual mentor. Cara currently works as a virtual lifestyle, mindset, and success coach and her mission is to provide women with the tools, resources, and community to reach their goals, empower themselves, find their happiness and live a life by design.
She does this via her blog at www.apurposedrivenmom.com, virtual community groups, and e-courses that help women learn to balance their lives, finances, schedules, health, and themselves!
2) Tatiana from www.themusingsofmum.com shares:
What advice will you give to mothers who want to have a business but are waiting for the perfect time?
There is no such thing as the perfect time. Mom lives are completely unpredictable because we are on call 24/7 and kids, husbands and household responsibilities can’t always wait.
The key is to make your business goals a priority by setting clear and realistic expectations for yourself and for your family. Also, communication with your spouse and children is extremely important. I make it a point to let my family know when I’ll be working.
My client meetings, business classes, and important deadlines are on a shared calendar. The older kids can see what’s up ahead and understand that impromptu trips to the basketball courts are not always possible.
How Does being a mom affect your entrepreneur journey?
I think that being a mom gives me a huge advantage and a stronger drive. Moms are so used to multitasking, that for some of us it’s become second nature. Making tough decisions also comes more naturally and I’m constantly aware that my success will benefit my family; so I work harder, and with a deeper focus.
What is an adorable mom moment you have had so far?
I’m also a homeschool mom, which means I get to spend a lot of time with my kids. One of my favorites things about being an entrepreneur mom is that my kids get to see an participate in a lot of what I do. This past year, my two youngest girls (10 & 12 years old), have decided to become business owners themselves. It’s been both fun and heartwarming building a website for their own business.

Tatiana will be launching an a-la-carte party planning company this spring. Tatiana is passionate about school choice, apologetics, organization, business, books and coffee.

Don’t wait! The time is now. Even if you can spend 15 minutes a day on your passion, you can grow it and become successful. This will make you a better mama too. You need to be filling your passions, not just taking care of everyone else!
2) How does being a mom affect your entrepreneur journey?
How doesn’t it is the question! You have less time but it feels so much more important to grow your business. I was never organized, but now as a mama, I have to be and I think I actually get more done. It’s also taught me to prioritize, delegate authority and even say no!
3) What is an adorable mom moment you have had so far?
The other day on the ground, dying doing crunches and my toddler came over and so gently gave me a sweet kiss. I felt like he was saying, you can do it, mama! That or how he loves his shoes so much he won’t take a nap unless he has them on!

There is no time like the present. “Perfect time” is a myth. You have to go ahead and move on your business. Done is better than perfect.

3) What is an adorable mom moment you have had so far?
I love when my son lights up every time he sees me after we’ve been apart. He runs to me and always gives me the best hugs.
Over her twenty plus years of life she has taken on many roles, but her most important and most exciting is that of a mom.
