New mom life hacks to make your life easier
Life hacks are very essential especially when you become a parent or are extremely busy. As a mom, I often wonder how I thought I was busy when I had no kids. With kids, you have to split your time between yourself, husband and kids. Parenting is definitely hard and is a constant life teacher. I wrote a post about practical pieces of advice for new moms because you need all the knowledge you can get on this journey. Being able to make use of life hacks is sure to make your life easier as a new mom or parent. This post will share a couple of new mom hacks to save you time and energy so you can spend time on things that truly matter. Some of these come with a price tag such as subscription services but are very beneficial.
Mom hacks to make your life easier now
I cannot stress this one enough. I love having my house clean all at once. What better and easier way than to pay for this to get done. Especially depending on the size of your home and other priorities, cleaning the entire house in one day might not be possible. Plus I am not one that loves scrubbing the bath tub and shower. Pay professionals to get this done for you while you sit back and enjoy your home.
Meal delivery service
There are so many meal delivery services that prepare your meals in advance and deliver them to your home. In addition, there are also services that will send you the ingredients in their exact portions and ingredients for you to cook restaurant style meals. Services like these include Hello fresh, Blue Apron and several others. Daily harvest is also another one that mails things like smoothies, fruit bowls, smoothie bowls and salads to your home
Grocery delivery/ pickup
I recently started ordering grocery pickup and love it, not sure why I waited this long. But since I am quite pregnant at the moment, my energy is fast depleting and walking through the entire store is becoming hard. Services like Instacart are able to grocery shop from various stores to you. I currently do roadside pickup with Walmart, I just order the groceries and then pick a time to pick them up. All I have to do is drive up there. Many grocery stores like safeway, Harris teeter and others also do this.
Nanny or babysitter
Having a baby sitter or nanny is very helpful. It does not have to be a regular thing, however its great to plan date nights away from kids, or if you just want time to attend events or sleep in. Nannies or baby sitters will come in handy a lot.
Laundry pick up
I have not tried this before, however I know people who do and love it. They simply pick up your laundry, wash, iron and fold them back up or hang them for you. Who does not love to get some help with their laundry. I do not mind doing laundry, but the hard part is folding them back into the right places.
When you declutter, you have less to clean up yayyy. Declutter your home by going through and searching for things that you no longer need or could find a better home for. Try the Konmari method to help get you started.
Now I do not know about you, but cloth diapers are a total No-No for me. I cannot imagine having to wash dirty diapers in addition to all I have to do already. I personally do not care how much more expensive disposable diapers are, cloth diapers are not for me.
Subscription service for diapers, wipes and frequently used products
Amazon is awesome for this, just search their subscriptions for items you frequently use such as diapers and wipes. You get to save some money plus they deliver them in a timely manner so you do not have to think about having to order or worry about running out.
Prescription mail order
If you have medications you use daily, it might be a good idea to sign up for mail order services where they can mail your medications to you every couple of months. With this, you save yourself having to go to the pharmacy and wait in line. Plus some services offer cheaper copays for medications by using this service.
Buy kids presents in bulk when they go on sale
This will help you save some money and also save you time from shopping everytime a kid has a birthday.
Meal prep on Sunday
Cook the meals for the week on Sundays or whatever day of the week you have bulk time to cook in advance.
Pack lunches the night before
Pack all lunches for the family the night before so you do not have to deal with this the next morning.
Pick out outfits for the week on Sundays.
I am yet to try this, but It sounds like a great plan to sort out the clothes for the entire week and organize them. This prevents you from having to think about what they should wear everyday especially when you have like two or more kids. Right now, its just my daughter and thus not too stressful picking her clothes out.
Prepare babies food and freeze them in ice cube trays
I did this for my daughter when she started solids. Prepare the baby food and freeze them in ice cube trays. Then when you need them, you simply remove however many cubes you need and defrost them.
Stick to a Schedule especially for the kids
Stick to a schedule especially for naptime or sleep. This keeps your sanity and helps you better plan your life. My daughter goes to bed by 8pm so I am able to put away things to do and plan for after her bedtime. Doing this also allows me to give her my undivided attention knowing that once her bedtime routine is over, its me and hubby time.
Keep a potty in the car
Now this I have not tried yet lol, but it definitely is one I have thought about and plan to implement. I cannot tell you the number of times I have gone to places like a park or playground that lacks bathrooms and have to leave because my daughter needs to pee. Or even while stuck in traffic, but with a potty in the car, I could simply have her pee in it and dispose the pee. By the way, if you are in the process of potty training, here are some tips from my 3 day potty training with my daughter
These are just some simple life hacks you can implement not only as a mom or parent but even as busy people. What are some life hacks or tips for new moms with newborn you have tried?
