Childhood Cancer really sucks especially when it has to do with kids. My heart breaks into a million pieces when I see a young toddler or even a grown child with cancer or hear a child died from cancer. Childhood cancer is more common than we can even begin to imagine. Although we may never know or understand why people get cancer, we all can know that God loves us through all of the storms in this life that we go through.
It is important that despite how difficult it is, we are still able to cry out to God for healing. I will be sharing some prayers for healing cancer in this post and trusting God to restore complete healing.
I was following a young little girl named Gianna (TEAM GG, FIGHTON) who had stage 4 Neuroblastoma which is a form of cancer often found in the small glands on top of the kidneys. I remember when she passed on, my heart broke into a million pieces. I did not know her personally but had followed her story and prayed so hard for miraculous healing.
Cancer really sucks, a close family’s daughter passed in July from cancer and I cannot even begin to imagine what it feels like to have your child be in so much pain and you cannot take the pain from them or heal them yourselves.
I remember GG’s mom sharing about how parents of healthy kids have different worries. For instance, they worry about what school the kids will go to when they will be potty trained, friends, what food they would like to eat, their next birthday party etc. However, as a mom of a daughter with cancer, she worried and had to make choices between various medications or treatment options to keep her daughter alive and comfortable. The day I read this I realized how crazy it was to be worrying about the most mundane things when God has already said he will provide them for us!

Here are some powerful healing prayers for cancer patients.
Prayers for the child with cancer
Let’s pray for the child with cancer, wherever they are, whatever state they are in. We pray for the hand of God to be upon them mightily, we pray that the power of his healing will rest upon them. We pray for healing, we pray for strength, we pray for joy. We pray for their little minds, we pray Lord that you take away every pain they may be having, calm their fears Lord. Lord comfort and restore them to full health. Lord Jesus, we pray you hold them in the palm of your hand through this time of need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayers for Peace and Strength for the parents and family
Commit the parents of these children to God’s hands. Day in day out, they make sacrifices of various kinds. Some have to quit their jobs, give up their lifestyles, ignore their own goals and needs to care for their children. I do not have any idea what it is like, but I know it must be a daily challenge. Let’s uplift them and pray for peace and strength. Often times they watch their kids in so much pain and can not do much to help them.
Lord we just commit these families into your hands, Lord we ask that you fill them with your peace that surpasses all human understanding. Amen.
Prayers for wisdom for the parents
The parents of children with cancer have to make decisions for them that may sometimes even end up being the wrong choice. Even the siblings and other members of the family will usually feel the effect of the challenge. The parents may have to dedicate more time to the child as opposed to the siblings, they will have to make difficult decisions for their children. Let’s pray that God helps them through this and helps everyone to stay loved and united. Lord we just pray for your wisdom for the parents, we pray they do not make decisions just out of emotions but out of your leading. We pray you calm their hearts and help them navigate through the world of information regarding their child and treatments through this difficult time. Amen.
Prayers for Strength for the children
Let’s pray for God to give them the strength to keep fighting on and pushing through. The strength that only he can give. Help them to go through chemo, all the medications and procedures they need to go through. Dear father, we pray you renew their strengths so they can mount up with wings like eagles. Give them the strength to keep on fighting this battle against cancer. Your strength is made perfect in their weakness so Lord when they are weak and tired, we ask that you step in and place your strength in them. Amen.
Prayers against side effects from the cancer treatments
Cancer treatments have so many side effects. Sometimes you take one medication to treat something and then need another to combat the side effects of the previous medication. Let’s pray for these children, that whatever medications they take would not have negative effects on their bodies or health. We pray against side effects from the chemotherapy and pray that the doctors will receive wisdom from God to choose the right cancer medicines for these children through this healing process. Amen.

Prayers for restoration
We pray for restoration of every part of their health, we pray for restoration of their minds, bodies and souls. Everything they may have lost so far due to cancer or the cancer treatments, we ask that the Lord begins to cause restoration to happen in their lives. He will raise up every dead or dry bones or organs in their bodies and restore their bodies to perfect health. Dear father, we pray that they will once again be able to eat, move, run, and do things without any pain or discomfort. Amen.
Prayers for strength and courage
We pray for strength and courage for these families, both the children, their parents and their families. We pray that despite the pain and adversity they may be going through, that they will have the strength and courage to keep trusting God. Amen.
Prayer for joy
We pray for joy unspeakable for these families, we pray for joy for the child with cancer. We ask that in the midst of the storms they are going through that you will shine your light upon them. Lord give them joy everlasting, we know this world cannot give them the joy and peace they need so we pray you flood their lives with that joy in every area. We pray that they will still be able to praise you through their pain and tears. Amen.
Prayers for the Grieving Families
Pray for families that lost their children to Cancer already. May God be their source of comfort and give them calm through this. May they understand that it is not their fault or anything that they did. Heaven has gained a new set of angels in these lovely children and although it is sad to lose them, they are now pain-free. Let’s pray that God continues to make himself known to these families. Help them know that this is not the end but the beginning of a truly eternal life in the presence of God. Amen.
Prayers for hope
Lord we pray for hope for these families, we pray they will be confident in your plans for their lives and have a hope in your power. May their expectations not be cut short and may their hope not disappoint even as they go through this wilderness season. Amen.
Prayers to restore a sick child’s health
Lord we pray for those that are currently sick and in the hospital, we pray you restore unto them the joy of their salvation. We pray you heal them completely and strengthen their bodies. Restore all they have lost, blood, fluid, strength, weight, whatever it is, restore completely unto them. We know that God’s power is well and able to do exceedingly more than we can ask or think for a child of God. Amen.
Prayers for unity
May these families remain united, we pray this tough time will not cause separation between them. We pray they will stand unified and fight this cancer battle together knowing the battle is not theirs but is the Lord’s. We ask that you bind these families together as one and help them to speak with one voice. Even when they have differing opinions or thoughts on decisions and treatments, we pray this would not cause disunity between them. Help them to encourage each other rather than fighting each other or taking the stress on each other. Amen.
Prayers for Healing
Pray for the healing power of God to be upon these children. He said by his stripes we are healed. Let us trust God together, though it seems tough nothing is impossible with God. We ask for healing in faith, although we know God is sovereign and we at the end of the day want his will alone to be done. Amen.
Prayers for Wisdom for all medical professionals
Wisdom for the medical professionals is very essential. Any slight mistake or slip off can be detrimental. Let’s pray that God gives them wisdom in all that they do towards these children. May every member of the team work with the fear of the Lord upon their lives. Let no-one with ulterior motives come near their children. Amen.
Prayers to Trust in God
Despite everything, God is with them through it all. Let’s pray that they never lose sight of his love for them. The devil may try to make them think otherwise and focus on the wrong enemy. God is a sovereign God and sees them through these struggles. Even though we obviously do not understand why children have to deal with cancer in the first place. It is okay to feel angry and upset at God, but pray that they never give up on him. While we may never understand why God allows some of us to get cancer, we all can know for certain that God is sovereign and that He loves us through all of the storms in this life. Amen.

Pray for support from family, friends and loved ones for them. They will never know any lack, they will always be surrounded by love and provision. Amen.

Let’s pray for God to provide for them in all aspects. Healthcare can be very expensive especially without health insurance for certain things. Let’s pray for provision for these families. That God will open up doors of financial breakthrough unto them. Cancer treatments can get so expensive as we all probably know and a lot of times, they have to raise donations for upkeep, transportation, feeding for themselves, the child with cancer and family members. Lord we ask for provision for these families, that you will make ways for them financially. We pray you raise up funding for them in all areas that when they ask for help you will raise up armies of people to help them. We pray you touch the hearts of people to give to their needs. Amen.
Prayers for childhood cancer funding
Would you believe that only 4% of the billions of dollars spent by the government annually on cancer research is directed towards childhood cancer? It is really unfortunate because cancer is the number one leading cause of death in children. Let’s pray concerning the tragic lack of funding for childhood cancer, that the Lord will continue to raise up armies of people to donate towards childhood cancer. We pray that those funds will make huge strides and impacts in childhood cancer, they will be spent wisely towards better treatments for these children. Amen.
Prayer for faith
Lord we pray these families continue to have faith in you and in the power of your name, in your power to heal their children. Help them to put their hope in you, walk closely beside them as they go through this healing and recovery process. Help them continue to stay faithful to you and continue to remind them that with you nothing is impossible. Amen.
Prayer for medical team
Let’s pray for divine wisdom for the hospital staff. It is easy to make errors so we pray that will not be the portion of these children. We pray that you will enlighten their minds and give them guidance to go through test results and come up with plans of treatment for the children with cancer. We ask that their minds will be free of confusion or stress or anything that will cause them to make errors. Give them the wisdom they need to come up with the best plans of treatment for each child. Amen.
Prayer against death
We come against every spirit of death or coma or loss in these families. Let’s pray that these children live long, pray that their families would not have to do life without them.
Prayer against cancer relapse
Let’s pray that these families will remain positive, they will stand strong and fight this battle together with God on their side. We pray against relapse or return of cancer especially for children who have been declared free of cancer. They will not have to go through this treatment phase again. Help them learn to trust and rest in you.
Prayer for the salvation of their souls
Pray that these children are saved or will be saved. Regardless of the outcome whether positive or negative, our ultimate joy is to return to heaven to be with God. So let’s pray that the Lord will touch their little hearts and transform them for his glory. They will come to know him as their savior and hunger and thirst for his word.
Prayer against symptoms of this unpleasant illness
Lord we pray for total healing, we pray for a sound mind for these kids, we pray you restore this young life back to a normal life in you. Lord heal every frail body, every child that may be in the intensive care unit fighting for their lives, we pray for numerous miracles to begin to be their portions. We pray Lord that you carry them in your mighty wings of love and shelter them.
Prayer for families that just received cancer diagnosis
Lord we commit these families into your hands. Father God, whatever the diagnosis is, be it brain tumor, terminal brain cancer, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, etc, we ask that you lay your healing hand upon these little lambs and place them in your loving care. Father helps to meet their physical needs, both the children and their families. We pray for a miraculous healing to take place in these little children.
